Hey guys,Im a NewB on the forum I jus wanted to introduce my self.I also had sum ?'s about the MPC.I am currently usin wav samples likeKicks,Hihats,Snares,etc.. for my samples.I dont have a zip drive.I wanted to know if i could get that Kanye sound out of the 3000 by chopping upp loops.I go into the edit screen and it doesnt seem to chop that well.I no how to speed the loop up though. And when im in the metronome playin the pads, the sample overlaps but the beat sounds cool. Also how can I change the bars Bcuz when im playin the pads in the metronome it plays back to fast in overdub.Help would b much appreciated.Thanks.Viciouz

Definately read the manual. Chopping on the 3000 is by ear. You adjust start and stop times, so there is no visual representation of your loop. I would go get a SCSI Zip drive and a USB zip drive. Also get MPC Editor http://www.midicase.com/mpceditor/index.htm and you can edit on the PC then save to Zip. This save mad time.

Can't stress reading the manual enough.... EVERYTHING is there!!! For choppin, try playing around with the Soft Start and Soft Stop side of the edit window. When you do it this way, you don't modify the actual sample itself, you're just tellin the MPC where you want the sample to start and stop. For the bar count, go to 'Sequence Edit' or 'SEQ Edit', select option 3 to insert bars, and use the data wheel to add 6 bars (default sequences on the 3k are only 2 bars), after that , change the loop to bar count to 1.

peace

Also read the chopping description in the 60 FAQ, it's based on the 3.10 60 OS which is almost identical to the 3000.
