CONFUSING

Everything is confusing,i got a pc (with scsicard),mpc (with zip drive),mixer,midikeybord.
Now! i really like the Mpc,the sequencer is dope,drums sounds like fire.
im not all in to synths and that stuff,,im a cratedigger and get all of my samples from vinyl.im not "loop-it-add-drums-FINISHED"
i like to chop it up,try diffrent combinations.I can be dunn on the MPC but it takes more time and work,and no options to tweak it on the mpc..If i do it on the PC i still haft to save it,move the zip drive,tranfer the files,then back to the mpc and bla bla. and that would take even longer time.I really hate to move back and forth the mpc and Pc.whut should i do? sell the mpc and just use the PC? have everything on the same place.Or buy something extra to the Mpc? maybe i new sampler? but then i still haft to move disc:s back and forth the Mpc and the sampler?
I ones thougt about buying an ASR-10,but i heard it take ages to load up sounds.I want my idea:s to turn into beats as quik as possible.give me some advise..

Maybe I'm tripping and not understanding what your'e saying, but in trerms of time, with just a MPC you are able to accomplish what arrangers would take days to do with musicians. Let's be realistic. Time is relative. Think about it.

If it's about your music, I could see that. You aren't complaining about what you can do musicially. I assume your happy with your work. So, I'm confused. One product may or may not make your process faster. But, in the end, time is only money, when you're making money. And when you're making money, you don't wanna waste the time to learn a new instrument.

Maybe it's me.

i agree on what your saying,a have complaining at with my music.i feel its going really good,im improving myself.whut i would really like to know is-is there a better trick for chopping samples then the way i do it? im feeling like im doing it the hard way.for example! i sample on the CPU,put some effects on it,just improve the sample.Then move my zip drive from the mpc to the PC (got scsi card) tranfer the file.move the drvie back to the mpc.copying the file in trim mode to maybe 5.then cut each waveform.
from hearing a sample to actually workin with it takes me about 20 min.
thats really the whole problem,,i loose alot of creativity in that 20 min.
Is it an easy:r way of doing this? maybe send from pc to mpc via midi or something? i dont know so much about this

It should say

just cop a zip solely for your mpc..like one of them internal ones....all that plugging and unplugging is gonna kill your scsi port fuse on the MPC and its impossible to get 'em fixed....this might save you a it of time......

maybe thats the best solution

or sequence your computer samples with the mpc.

use your computer as a sound module. midi out mpc to midi in pc.

I say try the mpc as it is. chopping samples on your pc and disk transfer to mpc. let the mpc show you the way.

That sounds perfect.i actually can send midi from Pc to Mpc,wich programs can comunicate with the mpc?

I have internal 250mb zip drive on MPC and PC. I use one zipdisk for transfer of files ONLY and one with MPC format on the MPC ONLY to save my music to. I process my samples on PC cause it's easier and faster for me.

That´s the solution I´m lookin for...
Any tips on what drivers I should get?
For the internal I was thinkin about Akai´s own ZIP drive,
but the one for the PC I don´t know...
Any suggestions?

Get the effects card for the mpc, and connect your turntables to the MP.. throw out the computer, and it will all be less confusing to you. it only takes a few minutes to chop samples on the MP. If all your using the computer for is to tweak samples, then I think your wasting your time.. if you have outboard effects, combines with the MP's internal effects, you can create some crazy s#it. Even with just the EB16 card, you can do some amazing stuff. I know people say it's no good, but I truly believe they don't know what their doing.. I mean, how many people actually make some 'good' music with the MPC to justify that statement.. out of all the music I hear online, there might be 90% crap out there, so don't take their opinion on that. I think you making it harder on yourself because what your trying to do is actually really simple. Pickup any Jay-Dee instrumental.. it's all samples, recorded from the MPC, to the DAT recorder, and sounds GOOD!

I went to a PC store and got 2 internal 250mb drives (iomega brand). One for the PC and one for the MPC. I installed both and I have no prolems. They worked the first time around with no erros or anything. I suggested this approach to a friend of mine and he did it also and had no problems. I suggested this approach to another friend, he also did the same thing and had big problems. Why I don't know, in this forum you will find that some drives work and some don't and I have not found or heard of a REAL reason some 250drives won't work. We all went to the same store and got the exact same drives and we all have 2kxl's.

If you buy the AKAI drive most likely you wil not have this problem but the price is jacked way up when you buy from AKAI or Guitar Center or someone else that says they are AKAI MPC zip drves only. Fact is they are just regualr internal drives you can find at any computer store for about $79. I've never heard of any problems from anyone installing 100mb drives though. I've heard they are more reliable and easier to install..

you right,,its a waste of time to use the computer just for tweakin,the worst thing is i already got the eb16.i just been Fu**** around with the reverb and echo,i really havent try to do anything else with it.Another sampler is a waste of money som i might as well learn the whole mpc in and out.thanks for all replys
