that is the most open-ended question ever! everyone has their own answer based upon what they like... you need to go to a shop and try some out in your budget.... in theory EVERY synth with a midi in/thru/out will work well with your 1k.

i meant from a funtionality/MIDI timeclock synch standpoint.

i think the answer is still the same. all the 1k will do is tell your synth what to play and record incoming midi signals - it will do this the same with whatever synth you connect to it.... but there are definitely some keyboards that have poor midi synching. I use a nord modular and it works like a peach.

"what are some synths that go well with the 1k?"

Ones with midi.

It's not a silly question or answer. I do have synths that do not have midi.

Hey Cut. I got a G2 too. Man does it suck up your time.
Have you got any nice patches you can chuck my way. I have hardly delved in to the editing side of things. Its all a bit daunting, no?

Many thanks. SC

oh you lucky person, i only have a G1 - purchased after the price fell as a result of the G2 coming out.

I don't think patches are cross generation are they?

(a bit off topic, so sorry everyone else)

@ Stephen: yes, the learning curve is steep - it took me about 6 months to work out what all of the modules do & the best way to hook them up, but once you get there it feels like you've learnt a new language or something and the possibilities really starts to open up.

The best thing you can do is study other people's patches and then refer to the manual.

I am very tempted to get a G2 for it's midi capabilities - being able to use it as a clock would almost remove my need for a 1k... and not forgetting those on-board FX.... (drools into lap)

The only disadvantage with the Micron I've found is the way you can't use a program change from the MPC to change the setup in the Micron. It's no big drama, you just change it by hand, but it'd be nice if you could have it all in the sequence. Everything else about it is awesome though, everybody should have one.
