Double hit problem

Finally managed to get my new MPC4k up and running thanks to the new OS. I've loaded a few drum hits onto the pads and they sound pretty amazing. However, when I'm recording a new sequence with these hits I get a double hit on some of them. This is very frustrating cos it sounds sh1t when it plays back. I am only striking the pad once so why does it sound twice? Bear in mind that I am still very new to the MPC world.

Make sure you make positive contact with the centre of the pads, the corners will often cause it to "double hit" as you described.

Make sure your MPC is on a stable surface too.
I had the problem on an unstable table.

I like to visualize the beat before I hear it so I do step by step editing (not step edit, but almost) I don't have that problem, plus I can easiy use the 16 levels function.

Great use of rhyming

I have a solution to your problem, but it may not work for all. I had
the same problem, but I got the double trigger to stop by going to
the program of the samples you're trying to trigger. Select the pitch
page of the program. Move the cursor over to the poly column of the
assign sample and change 64 to 1. Go back to the main page and hit
the pads. The double triggering stops. At least on my mpc4k it does.
