I ain;t saying hip hop is from the Suburbs, but Pete Rock is from Mt Vernon, and that's a suburb, not the city. It has projects, but so does CT, although I can;t front, there are some places in Conn. that scare me more than the South South.

When I say suburbs" that's code for White kids that have a Totally Lop Sided view of Hip Hop. But that could go for Black kids also,it's just this
"We own Hip Hop" attitude" and "we are the first and last voice of hip hop"
way of thinking that's getting to me!

Oh yeah, that's true, yeah, but it seems to be the voice of the powerless, let them try and take it

This "Pete Rock ain't the same" shit came to my ears when he dropped Soul Survivor 2, which a dope album, with the track "Warzone". They were like, " but this is not your style Pete"? If I was Pete I would have kicked every journlist who would judge my shit like that. Warzone is dope, and some cats are just lost.

Pete Rock a "sell out"? So what can you say about Madlib talking about the SP303 to all these hungry journalists? Moreover I think his shirt is nice! I want it! Dope colors!

I've never been negative on this board, and I ain't even negative saying it but I gotta say it: SUCCCCCCCCCKKKKERRRRRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! In a month Imma see all journalists saying "Pete Rock is a sell out" LMAO

I saw Pete Rock Spin on Sunday along with a few other members, and I can say, Pete has in no way sold out, the guy has an ear like no one else, straight Dj'ed like a houseparty, played so much good music I realized I have forgotten about better hip hop tracks the any of the new shit coming out. Pete has it, who knows where he's going with it, but a man with his ear is gonna make dope shyt. It kinda sucks that he is so typecast that anything that isn't troy is seen as a weakness.

I do hope to hear a lot of 1200 in his new stuff though, but that's just me... I won't dismiss it if it doesn't have that vibe.
