The 36 chambers here i come. Just found the mother load tucked away in the keyboard department of Sam Ash. Got a 1988 ENSONIQ EPS with 4x memory, output expander, about 200 patch disks, DI box with phantom power and road case for 300 bucks. I went in looking for some balanced cables came out with a sampling legend. I would put the sounds from this thing agains any Modern synth. You can't beat a keyboard with aftertouch, and all the patches are analog samples..not digital synthesis...

Im so stoked

ohhh those are great samplers. the sequencer is fresh too. i love how you can sample, load, save, sequence sounds, all that stuff while youre playing or playing a sequence. the patch buttons on the left by the mod wheel are great too.

i bet it'll go great with an mpc too

be sure to do the one sample loop trick ;) hours of fun.

Just that... so I dont really see the point of you telling me repeatedly as if its going to make me go return my EPS. If you are such an expert what do the patch change buttons do or didnt you get to that because your EPS was only a HUndred dollars.

Its possible that you got a better deal than me but...what the hell is your point

I love the EPS and i dont see paying for a mint condition vintage keyboard as getting ripped off. So be constructive or silent you have the choice

the patch buttons, how to describe it... think of it like there are 4 layers on the EPS' keyb -

A) no patch buttons held down
B) left patch held down
C) right one held down
D) both buttons held down

you could set it up so that, say D#4 is playing a closed high hat but when you push the left patch button for example, it plays an open high hat. when you hold the right button it plays a foot stomp hi hat, etc

it's more for performance than organization

i think one way i used to use it was to have my regular program thing playing while no buttons were held down. then with one patch button held, it would be the loop trick, then another would be reversed or something like that? it's a good way to get more milage out of the samples youre aleady using since it doesnt have a lot of RAM.

that is, if i am remembering this right ;) it's been several years since ive used an EPS, i miss it though

ooh i just remembered it can do all that random modulation stuff, that was good too. like assign the notes to pan at random for each key press. good stuff..
