I bought an MPC1000 instead of an M-Audio trigger finger, I wanted to use it to trigger samples on ableton live and notes. I find pads much easier than keyboards, yet I plug my midi OUT on the mpc into the Midi In on my Edirol UA20 and it doesnt recognise it. Is there anyway for the MPC to get recognised? I dont use samples I use VSTis and basicly I cant use it...

Can this thing actually be used to trigger samples?

Thanks

In devices the MPC is not listed. Normally for instance when I plug in my Midi Keyboard and press a key, there is a light that flashes in the top corner when pressing a note showing a MIDI message has been recieved this does not work with the MPC. It just doesnt recognise it.

Main page, right hand side.

MIDI:OFF

change OFF to A1

now you are transmitting MIDI on Port A, Channel 1

Have just done that and Ableton recognises nothing.
So it seems as if I cant trigger any samples in Live which is what I bought it for, and I got it off ebay so no refunds... damn. Thanks for the help.

I have read the manual.
Im doing everything it has said.
USB of my soundcard into computer. Midi Out from MPC to Midi In on the Soundcard. Selected the midi in on my soundcard as a device in ableton.
No signs, a light lights up when MIDI is recieved but mine doesnt.
Tried every in and out channel on the MPC still nothing.Tried a new midi cable still nothing.

You need to test the MPC with another external MIDI device such as a sound module or keyboard. Unless you're using faulty equipment, it will send MIDI.
