Recording actual audio into cubase from MPC2000xl & Rack

im am running cubase sx, and i have everything hooked up right for sure. now my issue is actually recording the audio into it. because as of right now it just plays it back thru my mpc and my rack, and if i were to shut those off, it wouldnt play thru cubase. i want to record each track, and im hitting the record button in cubase but it's not recording the actual audio into cubase.

first of all, what are you using to interface with cubase sx? soundcard, motu, digidesign, etc.

if so, did you setup up the connections in cubase?
