Warped records

Today I just got back in town and realized i left a crate of hip hop vinyl in my car, i brought it in and realized that every damn piece is warped to shit, if some one could help me before i bug out about like 500 dolalrs worth of vinyl.

A solution that sometimes works: Get two thick sheets of glass cut, just over 12" square. Put a record between them ...... they should be heavy enough to push the record flat. Now you need to gently heat up the glass & let it cool off again. The one time I tried this I left it against a radiator that was on overnight, & didn't remove the record until it had cooled down again the next day. It worked! Also if you put it in an oven on a low temperature that should work too. This is a pretty well-known method so someone might have full info on oven temperature & timings.

There's a few things that people try . One is to put the record on a table or any flat surface that catches the sun all day with a piece of glass over the top . The sun's heat plus the weight of the glass will help to flatten it . I've heard of people doing this (without the glass) in an oven ... which is probably the more risky option seeing as the wax is very toxic . You def wouldn't want to leave that sh*t in the oven and forget about it !
I've never tried this myself . To be honest, the only time warped records used to sh*t me big time was when I was heavy into skratching . But with sampling it's not too bad .
Like I said before, theres' a few different ways people try to fix warped records, and I've never tried any of them so can't speak from experience . Just be careful whatever you do and test on a piece of wax you don't particularly care for before trying to unwarp that precious lp you scored on the weekend .

I've always wondered if there was a good way to make them flat again.

here's a little more crumby trick that has worked for me. turn your vcr on which is on top of your tv, which is also turned on. Put the record between the vcr and tv. Pop a tape (some badass kung fu should heat it up) in the vcr and watch it with a friend or your girlie. After the movie, the rec should be flat. Dont be afraid to try anything as there is little chance of getting thse records to play right again.

Sorry holmes. It happens to everyone. I left a crate rares on top of a floor heater. Warped ESG, S.O.U.L., Superfunk etc. And moving, forget about it.

wow them some good tips!! i thought when a record was warped that was the end of it.

just throw it in the oven on a cookie sheet....let it heat up for like 20-30 seconds at 350 degrees, take it out and immediately put something flat and heavy on it. Let it cool and you should be straight.

ps. havent personally tried it, but heard it works

It is...I've never heard of a successful way to fix warped vinyl other than throwing it out the window. Good luck, but I've seen this question asked for years and nobody can ever get it right...

two peice of glass put the record inbtween and sett out side in the sun from the morning to sun down and thaT works the same way they warped is the way you fix them.

thats word this has been posted many times b4 yo do a search.
how can you for get a create of records in your car man.
after gigs i take my sht out what ever time it is.
