Now that I am starting to chop more on my 1K, I've realized how sick it would be to have a zoning feature. It would make chopping a WHOLE LOT EASIER!!!

I hope the new MPC1K update will have this feature :x :!: :x :!:

I feel ya, but right now it's just wishful thinking until they decide we need it on the machine.

have yall tryed to do it with ReCycle? cuz i love just doing it with recycle. just geting a sample, chop it up, remove the base and load it to my FC. it only takes 2 mins for me to do all that.

you can use extract on teh 1k, it's not exactly like zoning but it gets the job doe with a lil extra work. Also audacity is a free software and you can chop samples on there. Also timestreach on it using the tempo and pitch controls.

try this layer the sample with the same sample. Go to the range and split it up equally and use the 16 levels/velocity and chop it. put each part on a differnt track and have them hit one after each other.
range
sample 1 0-32
sample 1 33-65
sample1 66-97
sample 1 98-127

its worth a try

3 more questions...

1) When your chopping, do you make the drums first or the beat first?

2) When your listening to records, do you sample little things as you go along and put them all together at the end, or do you sample one part that catches your attention and just start chopping?

3) Does anybody chop in SoundForge,...TIPS?
