Noise From outputs on computer

I'm using my pc to chop up mp3's. I am using a set of rca's straight from the soundcard output to the mpc record in's. Any sound that I transfer that way has a slight buzz to it. I check the routing of the power cord and it was no where near the rca. I tried switching from left to right to make sure the rca wasn't messed up, but both sides do the same thing. Is there any way of getting rid of this problem? Or is there a better way of transfering samples? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

save them as .wav files and transfer them to a zip drive. but, its easy for me to say cause i have two zip drives. but it makes things pretty easy

Sometimes it depends on what you have pluged into yor surge protect strip sometimes you will get a hum from certain things being pluged in together I have had this problem and solved it by spliting up what I had between two surge strips.

I tried switching things around (Moving cords that draw more power to seperate surge protectors). I'm still getting alot of noise at the end of my samples.

Smoove03 - I thought about doing that but it was so easy just to play it off my computer and hit record on the mpc. And if it didn't loop right or if it needed more eq, I would just transfer it again in a matter of seconds.


I starting to think the problem is in the sound card picking up the hum from the computer. But the weird thing is my computer speakers don't have any unwanted noise to them. Hmmm...

i had the same problem until i got the digi 002 board i think if u ran your sounds through a mixer it might clean it up or maybe if u used better cords

i think its either the cables he's using or the fact that he's not using a mixer. but i'm leaning to the mixer part.

before i hooked my sound card up through my mixer it had a lil hum to it too. but after i ran my cables to the mixer it was all good. same for monitors even though they are powered. when i turn off my mixer it get tons of hum from my monitors. when i turn my mixer back on boom the hum is gone.

btw what kind of sound card do you have??

the badnews is the sound card your probably using is an onboard one which shares the rest of the resources the other parts of the mobo does, which results in a thin and nosy sound. do as the other guy mentioned save as WAV and load up on the mpc.

Yeah it's the sound card that comes w/the computer's motherboard. I know, I know, that's the problem.

I'm just trying to buy some time before I purchase Pro Tools Digi Rack 002.

I have a mixer, I guess I can run it thru the mixer than use the rec outs on the mixer to the mpc.

I just don't want any crazy feedback because the mpc will be recording its own signal in a way, unless I unplug the audio cables every time from the mixer. Then record.
