Hi fellows,
i want to sequence my MPC samples with sonar like a do with my corg and record them with sonar but i am new to do this and havent been able to do it. I conected the Midi out from my sound card to the mpc and back from my mpc to the soundcard,i am not sure what the setting should be in the mpc( as track omniA etc.) and in sonar because it crashes. Is this possible at all?

Hi,

I would like to sample and sequence trough a PC and also be able to use effects from my PC and use a mouse and a keyboard instead of the MPC pads.

How do I do that? :P

maybe i dont really like you guys?have you heard the difference between a camputer sequencer and de mpc?you know what you should do? save the sequence of the MPC and save as midi file and load that on sonar. but if u want a answer then go get a general midi book from the library because you r going to run into alot more problems. the mpc is the best sequencer in the world, well maybe live can compare, you should look into that.

"I would like to sample and sequence trough a PC and also be able to use effects from my PC and use a mouse and a keyboard instead of the MPC pads. "

Then why have an MPC? $700 of the $1000 price tag is the sequencer itself. In other words, if you just want a sampler then you can buy a much more powerful than the one on the MPC for $300 and save yourself a whole lotta cash.

to make my question more clear, Do i have to conect my MPC to a keyboard to record the midi information into the PC or can i do this conecting the MPC1000 direct with my soundcard? the reason why is because i have a big screen with the PC and i can manipulate things add fx etc.easier after recording the midi tracks,i know you are probably thinking why not do it with software but i would save me time i rather hit the MPC pads cause i love its feel and velocity and now i am ready to sequence them with my PC, record them and save them there.I hate saving things o the MPC flash!

once again, i'm not trying to be a arss, but go to the library. i used to have a room full of midi and the only reason i got through it was with a midi book. it does'nt matter if it's from the 80's because very little has changed. the mpc part is easy but the software might not be. read the software manual. does your soundcard have midi outlets? if not u need a usb to midi converter. both the soundcard software and the windows mixer has midi setting's to deal with aswell. hope this helps.

theres no point in having an MPC1000 if you are going to sequence on the computer.

why ? ? ?

have you ever heard that people use more than 1 hardware sequencer at once.

It's not that uncommon - and a lot people are using hardware-sequencers and software-sequencers all together.

Sometimes the simplicity of the mpc is just a beauty for drum-programming. And sometimes you just want and need a much more complex and in-depth access to midi-sequencing like you get with a software sequencer.

I don't think it's helpful to bash his working style.

Some people might have different workflow's than you guys - It doesn't mean that yours are the right ones and theirs are not.

Hi

you can sequence using both.

Slave the MPC to your PC using midi clock.

Then you can literally sequence using both. If you like to use the PC for a certain track do so, if the bounce and feel of the MPC works for another then do so....
