Does the mpc 1000 work with audio tracks at all or does it only record midi data?

I know that but I mean say when working with Cubase you have your midi tracks and your audio tracks is it the same thing with the MPC?

Not per se, but you can record audio (eg a vocal) over whatever sequences you've created, and sequence the recorded sample alongside the beats (inserting at 1:1:00 or wherever the beginning of your sequence is)

It's not built for recording "audio tracks" but it is a handy feature to be able to record while a beat is playing and works pretty well for what it is. It will never replace a multitracker.

kay thanks so would it make sence to have it synced to a multi track program for a better workflow? or...?

Yeah using the MPC to track vocals is kind of a "I don't have any other gear and I'm away from a place where I could just track it all normally" trick.

Either MIDI clock-sync it to a DAW or PDS, or just straight up track the MPC beat and track your vocal on top of it, that saves you the trouble of rigging MIDI cables, etc.

If all you're doing is putting a beat together on the MPC and recording vocals on top of it, I wouldn't worry about syncing at all. In fact you could just resample the beat on the MPC and load the track up already recorded in a DAW.

If you're trying to sequence additional MIDI instruments along side the MPC, syncing it to a DAW or PDS is the optimal solution. That way you can sequence VSTs or other outboard gear using either the MPC or the DAW, whichever works best or is your preference.
