MPC60 midi question

What up heads,
I'm trying to figure out how to use the 60 as a trigger for my other sampler. shit is complicated...or is it???
Can anyone explain to me how the how midi assign in/out/sync thing works on the 60. The 3.1 manual isn't making much sense to me. I'm sure it's probably mad easy.
I'm just trying to use a pad to trigger a note via midi that can be recorded with the seq. lay down a 8-bit bass line ya know.
I would greatly appreciated anyone schooling the Sh#t out of me.

Wot up Shields...

Ok...quick set up!!!

1) Go to the "Trk" Field & set this to Trk 01.

2) Skip across to the right of the screen & set the "Type" Field to 'Drum'.

This tells the MPC to use its 'Drum' Pads as th Trigger source for the Midi channel you are about to set up next.

3) Skip back to the left but to the "Chn:" Field & set this to say channel 1 (for arguments sake,going on the assumption that the bass note you want to trigger is set up for playback on Channel 1 on your other device)

You're ready to go!!!

Be sure there are no Drum sounds on the MPC's pads as these will be trigger also when u hit the pads...I.e you'll hear your bass note & wot ever drum sample is assigned to that particular Pad...

See below for how MPC screen should look for the example!!!

Pls note the Letter 'A' is used in the above example where the MPC 60 MIDI out used to connect to the 'bass note' device is MIDI out 1!

B would be Output 2 & C would be out 3 & D would be Midi out 4!

You should check the FAQ at the top of this forum on how to set up your pads chromatically, and read it anyway cuz you'll learn a lot from it.

Also, once you sequence from the pads, it will trigger internal sounds as well until you switch the track type to midi, then you will only hear the external.

Also turn local off to use the pads without hearing the 60's samples as well.
