DEAD ZIP

The internal Zip drive on my MPC2KXL packed up after a week or two. I'd like to get it working again - but I left it too long for the warranty.

External Zip and scsi CDR works fine.

I can't believe it's broken - do I need to replace it? I'm sure this will be a common problem. Is it replaceable?

If you get an external...get a zip+ or upgrade to CF Reader.

i got like 3 of them.

CANT USE THEM since I have a 2k classic and not an XL.

Same shit happened to me, the local AKAI repair center didn't give a **** even while it was under warranty, I upgraded to the CF reader 'cause I got fed up waiting for them to realise that the drive was broken and needed to be repaired.

I don't think it's "click death" - no noise. It doesn't come up on the ATAPI devices when I'm trying to load.

I seem to remember factory-fitted Zip issues being talked about when I bought the thing like 2 years ago. It's had almost no use but I'm going to start using it again. I just love me mpc!

Should I just put in a new internal drive? or is it software etc. stuff that's the problem?
