Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So, I am new to the MPC, so forgive my ignorance.

I have a 2000, not the XL.

I have a phrase sample (or loop) that is 2 bars long that gets triggered whenever I hit a specific pad.

What I would like to do is after hitting it once, have it keep playing until I hit the pad again -- this would stop the loop. Hitting the pad again starts it back up...

This way, I can start a drum loop and not keep restarting it by hitting the pad every 2 bars.

Is this possible?

Use the copy and mute technique. Atfer laying your loop go to another track and lay the drum. Copy the sequence and on the next sequence mute the track you don't want to hear. This would be called a chain and the foundation for setting your sequences up for use of the song mode. The song mode makes it so that you only have to arrange the song/beat once.
This way you can load up the beat ready made, so to speak. Just make sure to save all songs and sequences. And seeing that you are a newbie make it a habbit to name every track you use. Trust in that !!!!
