HELP"DISK READ ERROR!! MPC2000 CLASSIC

HI,

MY FLOPPY DRIVE WENT DEAD ON MY MPC2000 NOT (XL) AND I BOUGHT A NEW FLOPPY DRIVE OFF EBAY FOR $13.00. I STILL GET THE SAME ERROR AFTER INSTALLING IT. IS THER A SPECIAL DRIVE I NEED TO BUY??? WHERE???? ALSO IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE LIKE A CARD READER THAT CAN INSTALL ON THIS CLASSIC MACHINE? I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE AND FOUND ONLY TOPICS COVERING THE (XL)
PLEASE HELP........

I would either take to somebody to get it fixed professionally or get a zip drive, a scsi cable and you can load up the os that way. I use a jaz myself and the disks are detioriorrating.

they RIPPED u on ebay.
the FDD you got off ebay coulda been dead.
it is just a simple FDD. Nothing special.
A PC store you coulda got one for cheaper.

I say, take the one outta ya pc or go to the flea market and get one to try.
Make sure the power is connected to the drive in the MP. Dont put the top back on it until you have tested it.

if i get a jazz installlled where do i get the os format from? and i will ry to go to a pc store.

SPOKE TO AN AKAI AUTHORIZED DEALER/REPAIR CENTER(ROGUEMUSIC-NEW YORK) THEY TOLD ME THE MPC2000'S FLOPPY DRIVE CANT BE JUST ANYONE OF THOSE CHEAP PC ONES, IT IS ACTUALLY A SPECIAL DRIVE THAT AKAI USES IN THIS MACHINE. SO I AM NOW 40.00 IN THE HOLE FROM BUYING TWO FLOOPY DRIVES THAT WONT FUNCTION IN THE MPC2000. SO DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE FOLKS!!!!

Well I haven't had any problems installing a pc drive (Sony) in mine after mine went dead. Done the same thing for a 2K, also a Sony, no probs there either.
