recording to mainouts with master effects???

I am trying to record a track i've made via the main outs with the master effects on (EQ and Compression), but it ends up coming out distorted and 'over effected'... does anyone know how to stop this??

the master effects are post, so the way your effects sound depends
on the amount of volume (ie. the more volume you have, the more you
get compreesion and eq). try turning the master volume down until
you get a satisfied result.

i gave that a go but it still came out way to loud and distorted... i even turned the main volume right down but it made no difference. i am using both effect channels as well, that wouldnt cause a problem would it?? this is kind of pissing me off because without the master EQ and compression this track sounds pretty muddy.... does this happen to anyone else when recording to the main outs, or is there something i'm not doing right?

not sure if this'll help you but...

do you record into a software program?

if you do, try recording each individual track on your 1k or whatever you got, right onto a separate, individual track on your computer program (cubase, etc.)... that way you got each separate track from your 1k laid out on it's own track on your computer... do this by turning the loop off on your 1k and just solo each track for 4 bars, 2 bars, 8 bars, whatever and check the signal in your software program to see how that **** coming through... you end up with a bunch of loops that you can just duplicate into a whole track... then when you got it long enough, go back and mute out certain loops that you don't want coming through at certain points in your track. (mute your hats to end a 4 bar loop or whatever you want)... it might take a bit of editing in your software program but from my experience it works nicely... it's basically just recording live audio but by soloing each track from your 1k onto your computer you lose no sound quality when you export that audio data into a wave file from your software program.

you still have your effects from your 1k and then you can even beef some things up, if you want, once you've laid down each individual track on your computer from within that program.

this is all pending on whether you have a mixer that runs from your 1k into your computer, and on whether or not you record into a program at all...

anyways if you do it this way you're for sure not going to have any problems like the one you had...

this is just my suggestion and if someone else has advice i'm definitely listening.
