My friend is helping me setup a good mobile music setup. My plan is to make mostly hip/trip hop music and i would like to hear some opinions about what i should spend my money on. My friend uses a powerbook g4 with logic with the exs24. Today i noticed that cubase has a similar vst sampler called halion. Wich of these programs (cubase, logic) would you reccomend, and wich sampler (exs24 or Halian) would be more ideal. I want somthing where i can quickly assign samples and packs of samples easily and quickly, sequence them and/or play them live. Wich setup is better for making the mpd-16 more like and mpc enviroment?Keep in mind this is on an apple powerbook laptop, so I might want to go with the quicker less cpu intensive program... My friend swears his setup is the best thing, but id like to know some opinions about these 2 setups before i buy anything.....
Also, he told me that he would hook me up with alot of the samples from the exs24 if i got logic, but correct me if in wrong, can't the halion sampler play all the same format of files that the exs24 can, so then he could still hook it up if i bought the cubase setup.
Any information would be super. Thanks.
