Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

I know there is no feature for this on the 2000 (non XL) but other than using software on my comp do any of you have any methods of doing it on the MPC  ? Maybe by chopping or using some other pain staking time consuming method? I hate using the comp other than for tracking my final product and mastering.

hmmm, you could do what the tutor does for his "groove control" (trademark MPC-tutor.com) 8)

you could chop it in ZONE, and then play with the attack and decay settings so it flows better from one zone to the next. Other then that, I would just use the PC. Ive used the feature on the XL but mainly to "tighten" up a sample I already timestreteched on my PC.
plus a pc is a gabillion times faster, I mean I bet you could play with it and find a way, but as a hardware only guy I still make compromises like this when time is a factor. Its like, 3-5 times slower on an MPC, plus if you are gonna timestretch you want the start end points to be super accurate, something the mpc has trouble doing with such a small LCD.

other than chopping, you can also add a slight bit of reverb to your samples.. this will carry the sound for a little bit.. if that doesn't work, adjust the tuning by + or - 1.. again, it does little, and chances are, your really not going to notice a change in sound unless you "really" pay attention to it. If you use all three of these techniques together, you may be ok, but to stretch it out longer than that, I would by a cheap sampler with that capability..

You already have a PC that can do a VERY good job with time streching already.

This site is GOOD for figuring out the calculations of stretching.
Use it man..
