i use a oxygen8 as a midi controller on my fruityloops, basically to create riifs/drum loops/effects etc..

so, i was considering purchase a mpc1000 to assign my stuff created to the mpc pads and just play them during a gig, i know i can use a mpc for this finality

but my doubt is
i was wondering if i can use the mpc1000 as a midi controller on fl/reason etc.. just like i currently use my oxygen8..

can anyone tell me if this is possible
someone using mpc1000 in this same setup, could tell me how it is done ?

The pads output MIDI note data and their are 4 banks of them so in effect you have 64 'keys'. These will output over 2x16 MIDI channels so there's further control there. However I don't think anything else does, not the q-sliders, note repeat etc.

You can insert program change, controller data and sysex strings into the sequences, set a sequence to a single bar with the relevant data in and to play through once rather than loop, hit play and it'll send that data. So that could be useful.

You still need a midi interface for your computer, you can't send midi through the usb from your 1k

jay, your best bet is to look into the akai mpd16. http://www.akaipro.com/productsMPD16.html

it has usb that you can send midi from. and from what you were talking about, this would work. it costs around $250 USD

jelly, morgan sparq, thanks a lot for helping me..

anyway

morgan; right after posting this topic i read another post here, and learned how to setup mpc1k to work as a midi controller, actually , i do have a a soundcard with midi ports, a maudio audiophile firewire, i forgot to mention this, my bad..
now, im facing another problem, i was able to make my mpc1k to work as midi controller, but i cant configure the pads to play the notes in order, im not sure if im being clear, let me try in other words, for example; with my oxygen8 i would hit one key and it would play that same note in the fl, if i hit the next key it would play the next note .. and so on, with the mpc, i press, for example, pad16 it plays one note, i press pad 15 .. and it goes for a totally different note.. in other words, i dont know how to make the pads synchronize/play according the normal piano .. they are just crazy.. one pad plays one note, and the other right next to it, plays something completely different .. have you ever faced this problem ?? you have any idea how to "fix" this.. if not, its ok, im already grateful for your previous answer.. ill try figure it out myself

sparq; yeah.. i heard about it.. but can i store my sounds on it and just play them during a concert ? or it has to be connected to some laptop/keyboard to work ??

The long way to set up the notes in the right order is to go to the program screen then hit notes and adjust them by hand til they're how you want them. Then save the program so you can use it again. If you have a mac you can use pad187 to make a new program, hit the chromatic notes button and it's done. Don't know if you can do the same thing in blue box but I would have thought you could.

or a quick and dirty way is load the factory program M-bass (i think) then delete the sample from memory... its setup chromatically already i think?

it can not store sounds. it's just a controller.

No point in discussing this "midi controller for fruity loops" business because if you buy an MPC you will NEVER look at fruity loops again.
MPC sequencing is wicked streamlined. Computers are for email. MPC's are for music.
The only reason I am on this forum instad of working on my songs is because I have to go to my job (too afford an MPC)! Otherwise I would be in my apartment with the MPC :)

This I agree with. FL is very powerful and all, but will never compare to the rawness of approaching music on an MPC

This I disagree with.

I find Logic Pro 7's sequencer to be much more streamlined and much more conduced to make music.

I can't disrespect computers for music making because of the versatility and power that they provide.
I can't imagine not having my Mac, that means I would be sequencing with 2 MPCs, and an A-DAT deck. (and a ton of sound modules and junk)

I AM NOT GOING BACK TO THOSE DAYS!!
