Pads -> aftertouch -> program

The pads must be able to send channel pressure, there's gotta be a mode. But Poly Pressure is dope, much better in fact cuz it will only affect the pads pressed and not the whole program. But I see what you are saying Alto, most things don't incorporate poly pressure.

Ikke, make sure the midi filter isn't filtering aftertouch and poly aftertouch if you want to sequence it.

thanx el for jumpin in ... i dont know how or if the pads can be set to sendout channel pressure data ... i dont think that it is possible at all. if it were it were dope and all good .... and if not than its a shame ... anyonw knows? does the 60 allow one to choose between channel or poly? ... it were to dope to control my virus kbs aftertoch with the 4k pads ... but this really seems cant be done ... anyone knows how?

imo 4k pads are allover "key pressure" and virus "pressure" (so they are named in 4k)- 4k progs respond to both .... my module responds to pressure only and pads cant sendout channel pressure or whatever they call it ... so the only way to control the aftertouch on my virus is from its keys ... damn, it were to dope to control it with the pads ... anyone knows a way ... please ...

I haven't messed much with afertouch except on a few synths which I play from keys. I think I got something that responds to poly aftertouch around here, I'll lert you know what I findout.

hy el - thanx for checkin im interested. but its all good ... they both work - poly on the 4k is doper than the channel one at the virus. but it were still dope to trigger the virus from the pads (channel pressure is less data intensive too i think) so this were either possible if virus would accept poly pressure data (which i havent worked out so far - i tested lotsa times and am next to sure it cant be done there) ... or if one could switch between poly or cahnnel on the 4k to sendout either poly or channel - which were even better coz ya could control aftertouch from all those synths outthere from the pads ... maybe a 3k or 60 can do that, dunno just interested?! ... if i could trigger the virus aftertouch from 4k i bet those pads became physically larger ... lol

I'm not even sure if the 60 pads transmit aftertouch. I'l have to check, I think they do, but I never used it, so I'll have to see.

I think if you had to have either type of Aftertouch on an MPC it makes sense to have poly. With the pad design, you are gonna have more drum and random samples than multisampled instruments which are usually played from a keyboard, and individual control of pressure effect is much more useful. More controllers have Channel so its easier to get than poly.

thanx el for checkin ... well hope ya still find somethin somewhere on the 60 bout it (but then i m sure ya dont even need it ... ... just kiddin) ... and i 100 % agree that poly makes more sense on an mpc - its much doper on drums ... imo on instrument sounds too - on virus (channel) if ya hit a chord for example and wanna express one sound out of it only it emphasises all of the others too ...

yeah, poly is much cooler, you need an ensoniq board to get it in keys basically, maybe some emu keys now have it but I doubt it.

Nah after touch definitly no necessary, I only use it rarely, and usually for keys. I do wish I had release velocity on my keyboard. I gotta check the 60 midi chart so I know for sure what it's got.

yeah, aftertouch is no necessary. but it were fun to trigger kbs aftertouch from pads. except some chrods i trigger kb mostly from pads. as ever. question: release velocity. is it the same as off velocity? kb has that i think ... never really used it though ... gotta check.

Probably, it is how fast you release the key, excellent for controling the amp envelope's release time, slow is long and fast is short release, or other weirdness.

lol on the weirdness ... yo this was a niceone - thanx. must be years that i used it last .... kb transmits off velocity indeed and its the same as you described as release velo. also dope for use in 4k programs. gotta play more keys ...

release velocity would be really cool to use to trigger an effect to come in, like if it's real fast a delay kicks in real wet but otherwise it's abscent.
