I want to record multiple tracks (one at a time) from my MPC to a DAT multitrack. How do I sync the two so that each seperate track of the sequnce starts at the same point on the tape? In other words, how do I get the sequence to start and the tape to begin recording simultaneously?

There's SMPTE on the MPC2000xl & a nine pin sync jack on the back of the DAT (DB-9 connection). The ADAT model is Alesis LX20

1st did you read the manual? IF not you're gonna have problems.
1. you need an interface from the adat to the mpc such as the BRC from Alesis. The manual tells you in details how to hook up. I hope that you're running 8 eight or into a submixer? You may need to do some configuring to get the performace you want. How tracks are you recording onto Adat? Are you leaving two free to mixdown?

The manual talks about syncing multiple adats together, using the db-9 connection. I realize I need an interface from the lx20 to the mpc, but that brc remote from alesis is not what I want. That thing looks like it would cost about $1,000. I was looking at the AI-2 from alesis, but I couldn't figure out if it would work or not.
