There is also allready an unlimited RAM recording feature.. (so you can allready record more than 8 audio tracks!) Implemented in OS 1.6... Why would we need another one, Phunk? :? ... btw, Do you want to turn the MPC into a computer or into an MV ??

Ikke,
What's this about an unlimited RAM recording feature? How does it work??? I'm using OS 1.7. I didn't know we had this feature.
Thanks

I've got the notes handy here on my computer, i'll save you the search:

***

*******Emulating DAW Recording *******

A) To emulate auto-recording with a pre-programmed MIDI note:

* Prepare an empty Drum Program and in Zone, force all KGs to CONST/ONE SHOT
* In MULTI, assign this Program to a Part of the current Multi, and assign
this Part to an internal MIDI channel, say 1B
* In RECORD, set Trigger via MIDI note on the same MIDI channel, say 1B, and set a slightly longer record time than you want to record (so you can manually stop recording when needed)
* In MAIN, set a new Drum Track out to INT-B, Ch:1
* IN STEP EDIT, insert a note, say Pad A01, at the time where you want to
start recording
* In RECORD, arm recording (waiting for MIDI note)
* Put the sequence in Play
* At the pre-programmed time (Pad event), recording will start automatically
* When you want to end recording, press F6:STOP, or wait until record
finishes automatically at the end of the programmed record time
* Press F5: ADD PGM, select the empty Drum Program prepared above
* Hit the same Pad, say A01, and press F6:DO IT
-> the recorded sample will play in sync with the rest of the sequence

B) To emulate recording on-the-fly:

* Prepare an empty Drum Program and in Zone, force all KGs to CONST/ONE SHOT
* In MULTI, assign this Program to a Part of the current Multi, and assign
this Part to an internal MIDI channel, say 1B
* In RECORD, set Trigger via MIDI note on the sane MIDI channel, say 1B, and set a slightly longer record time than you want to record (so you can
manually stop recording when needed)
* In MAIN, set a new Drum Track out to INT-B, Ch:1
* Turn Timing Correct OFF (so that the MIDI note is not quantized)
* In RECORD, arm recording (waiting for MIDI note)
* Put the sequence in Record (PLAY+REC or PLAY START+REC)
* When you want to start recording, hit a Pad (Full Level), say Pad A01
* When you want to end recording, press F6:STOP, or wait until record
finishes automatically at the end of the programmed record time
* Press F5: ADD PGM, select the empty Drum Program prepared above
* Hit the same Pad, say A01, and press F6:DO IT
-> the recorded sample will play in sync with the rest of the sequence

Of course, if you want to make multiple recordings, you will need to select
a new Track, and change the MIDI channel or assign the already "recorded" track out to PART (so that it doesn't send the MIDI note to the trigger Channel).
Again, this can be planned ahead of time by preparing the "recording" Tracks in advance and only changing the Track Out (Channel or Part) for each recording."

it depends of whichnew features would be available
Arpegiator & phrase synthethiser "midi plug ins " chord memory
in the midi area would be great
_convolution tools in the edit sample

-having more than 2 lfo in the synth engine would be great too
-possibility to use vst or rtas effects either inside the mpc or @ least with the adat I/O
hope

-the possibility to install a rom card to have instant acess to the preferred set up of sounds & programs
-the possibility of making different loops on the l & R side of a sample,& several loops in the same sample

If this was possible I d be ready to pay

Convolution tools?

Yo, Crack is wack.

all this is already possible
go experiment

ok **** it
step 1 make a drum loop pattern
step 2 go to record page
step 3 at the top toggle the sampling source until it says MAIN OUT
step 4 make sure you have the channel set to either mono L(left) or mono R(right)
step 5 hit record and then play
step 6 name and save the new sample
step 7 repeate steps 1 through 6
step 8 go to sample page
step 9 find one of the two new samples you just created in the record page
step 10 hit the TRIM/LP Button
step 11 hit the EDIT button
step 12 now look/toggle until you find MONO TO STEREO
step 13 if you cant figure out the rest of what you need to do then follow step 14
step 14 sell your mpc and give it up

Which step 5 would he have to follow ? step 5 or step 5 ? :?
you gave a good start but couldn't help yourself with step 13 couldn't you ?
Fuqing annoying...

I would pay for a port to the realtime era.
i.e. features that work with the sequencer running so you'd never have to stop that flow to edit a beat:

- realtime data editing
Moving notes in time, processing of pitch / velocity / whatever adjustments.
Timing correction monitoring after recording without stopping the sequencer (overdub instead of stop), etc.. etc...

This would enable us to fine-tune grooves while listening. All energy still in the room... wouldn't that be a bliss. With more realtime functions the MPC would become much more of a musical instrument than it currently is.

- copy & change sequences while recording so with the push of one softbutton sequence1 is copied to sequence2 and the MPC automatically jumps to sequece2 so you can record more lines on top; building your sequences / song on the fly or during a live performance.

- I know we can think of a lot more functions that would benefit from a real-time makeover

I would pay for:

Mute groups. (mute/scene memories so different track mute configuations could be saved, recorded, and triggered with the pads)

Independent track looping.

Customizable "rolls" and/or and arpeggiator.

A way whereby "next sequence" changes could be recorded as a performance in to a larger sequence, for more intuitive arrangement.

Being able to change the TC value with the numeric keypad when the cursor is on the TC value. (would be VERY cool when recording note repeats....imagine)

A sampling function whereby multiple samples are automatically recorded (by an on/off threshold) and assigned to pads in the order they were recorded....check out "sample+' on the yamaha A*k.

Anything else they want to add.

cheers all.
