to raise up cash for a Korg Oasys 76. Good idea or bad idea?

I already need a good workstation keyboard plus I'm not into using software DAW's for MIDI and audio recording (so that's not an option for me); so I figured the Oasys would more than fit the bill for the way I work.

It has pretty much all I would need if not more to compose my tracks w/o the limitations the MPC currently suffers from (like track looping, arppegiator, audio tracks, 12 insert fx, master and total fx, new synth and fx modules expansion capability thru sofware upgrade, Karma, control surface, etc...

Anyhow I hope Akai get their act together soon and fix the current bugs in the OS and possibly give us some feature upgrades as well. Cause I'd rather keep my MPC and add a workstation later when and if I get the funds for one. I've come to appreciate the MPC for what it offers and I would hate to let it go.

I like the fact that everything is packed in one integrated solution in the Oasys.

I was planning to wait a while and see if the price would drop before getting one anyway. It's bound to go down especially when all the hype has calmed down a bit and Yamaha and Roland come out with their competing boards.

You can find me at my condo on Park Avenue or the one in Beverly Hills. If I'm not there than I'm probably at my presidential suite on the top floor of the Trump Tower.

Doesn't the oasys only have 16 sequencer tracks? Maybe they changed it, but that's what I remember form the original brochure.......
To me, that makes it rather useless as an "all in one" instrument, if that is the case.
Yeah, keep the Mpc.

Yes the limited 16 MIDI tracks is a drawback but it does have 16 audio tracks to compensate.
Keeping the MPC and adding the Oasys would be an ideal setup though.

Hey,

The Oasys looks cool, but I preordered an Alesis Fusion for the same reasons you stated. I think the Fusion would compliment the MPC4000 quite well w/ multiple synthesis, 8 track audio, 32 track midi, and the ability to read Akai pgms for sample playback.

www.fusionsynth.com

For $8,000 you could get a lot of stuff. Is the Oasys really worth it? And how does ikke play the ladies when he is online posting in forums all the time? ;) I guess I just don't know....

Yeah, honestly the Alesis fusion kills it in my opinion.
