I know that the MPC 2000XL has this function where you press the "Tap tempo Note Repeat"-button + Shift(?)-button to set correct timing to pads while playing them without have to hold the Tap Tempo-button to do it. But I can't get that function to work on my MPC 1000. Do you people know how to do?

Thank you,
John Henriksson

Are you talking about quantize?

It's automatic!

in main page press F1-TC(time correct) and set the quantize value(1/8, 1/16, 1/32 etc..).
if you turn it off notes are recorded exactly like you've played'em.

Peace!

Yep, quantize is always turned on on the MPC 1000 unless you select OFF in the quantize menu. However, if you want to play quantized in REAL TIME, you will need to select your amount of quantizing, and then holding the TAP TEMPO button while you bash your beats out. If you dont hold the TAP TEMPO button while quantize is on, your new track will still be quantized when the bar is replayed.

There, I think that covered it all;)

Thanks for the help, but I ment that I wanted to use the quantize in real time while triggering drums live without pushing the Tap tempo-button. Because when I was using an MPC 2000XL it had that hold function.

the 1000 does not have a HOLD feature

it would be cool if they added that feature in a future OS

I really miss that function from the MPC 2000XL.

sparq: It's not a specific hold button. Just play your beat then hold Tap Tempo, setting quantize and then Shift.

By the way, where can I download new OS for my MPC?

i was about to make a topic about this. it's really hard to bang those beats
when your other hand is forced to hold down the tap tempo button. i've
tried putting some duct tape on it but it doesent work.

Hm, get a footswitch and set that on hold mode?

By j_henriksson Sat May 28, 2005 7:03 pm
Where can I read about those footswitches online?

if it could that would be sick. b/c I already have a pedal layin around somewhere, but had the need to use it. I'll have to research this.

footswitches, latch and momentary, will not hold tap tempo or even trigger it.

although the moniter says you can assign "tap tempo/note repeat" to it.

which is bulless.

however, i'm devising a simple weight mechanism which you place over the tap tempo button. it will hold it down until you choose to take it off. i will put pictures of it up when i finish it, because i'll be taking it on tour. it'll be reaaally useful and i'll make sure everyone knows how to do this.

peace.
