Hey I plan or planed on getting a mpc 1000 depending on the replies I get.

But here's the thing Ive read some reviews sayin that it's only good for drums and one shots and the occasional loop...Is this true?

See I wanted something that would allow me to program drums (obviously),flip samples, one shots, phrases but also alow me to sequence my soon to be Motif ES rack aswell as a MicroKORG.heck mabey even Reason...I want all of the above to be sequenced in the MPC 1000 is this possible or are the reviews I read telling the truth when they say it's "limited"

Its all possible. Its only limited to your creativity. The mpc1000 doesnt have timestreach but thats fine because I just use audacity which is a free program that you can dl and it also doesnt have zoning but you can get away with that by using other features on the 1000.

I thinik the 1000 is a great sequencer for external gear. My only gripe would be NOT have PROGRAM SELECTION available from the MPC. Still have to browse patches on the external unit. You can record program changes though...

Otherwise a superb sequencer, and def. much more than just a dru machine.

You can't listen to these guys online. I have used a MPC to sequnce a ASR-10 JV-1080, and record to an AW16G without any hiccups, don't not listen to these cats online who proboly don't even have one. and Yes if you wanted to use reason with it, that is possible.

I have owned almost every MPC that has been out (except for the MPC4000).

I can't get over how cool this little monster is.
I've only owned to MPC1k for a short period of time, but so far it has not let me down.

I still have a 2k xl, and thats sitting in a corner right now gathering dust.

My only gripe with MPC1000 is how ugly it is.

if you have skills, anything is good enough. its built on mpc genetics. definitley good enough

simultaneously.

yeah man use virtually everything you can. vsts are some powerful tools. you can get a bunch of em at thepiratesbay or torrentspy.

reason 3 though is maybe my favorite tool at this point in conjunction with the mpc - maybe because i don't know how to use vsts that well outside of cubase. reason's sound modules are really powerful. the drums get old eventually but you can always use drrex and recycle. i use to produce solely on reason 2.5, but the combination is soo nice...
