After some nasty ZIP experience I eventually got this external SCSI HD on ebay. Came in a nice Apple-grey enclosure, size is 1.5GB. I managed to format it, partition it, everything works absolutely fine. Only issue, the disc is noisy - very loud, hoover kind of noise.
I tried to only turn it on when I need it (ie when loading or saving), then turn it off when I want some peace, then turn on again when I need to save my work or load other data, then turn off again. It worked flawlessly, but I'm afraid I could eventually damage the HD or even worse blow up the SCSI fuse with all this turning-on turning-off.
I'm using the HD power switch and not unplugging any cable (which can definitely be harmful), but still I don't feel 100% safe.
Can anyone give advice?
Cheers
