mpc 60 repairs (screen)

If the inverter was bad there would be no light. They usually either work or don't. I have not seen a degraded one before so chances are that all you need is a new backlight. The inverter is just a compnent that converts 5Vdc to around 100 VAC for the backlight.

Hey I did read the faq and it was just info no details I think I will take it upon myself to photograph a before and after LCD repair for all the newbies and post the link in the faq section. Thanks alot I really think that you all have made it pretty clear that I need to replace the back light I will call around this week to see who has the cheapest price VST or Telesis.[/img]

click on the links in the faq, if you go to midi rakete they show old and new backlight photos and if you check out the 60 yahoo group pics section you'll see a new blue and a white backlight.

Like I said, read the FAQ, and look into the links on the subjects you are looking for info on.

Those pictures would be a good addition to the faq though, I tried linking the yahoo pics but you need to sign in.

Thanks. I just heard form Telesis today via email all things point to my backlight they are going to help me out. I am going to call around too just make sure i get the best price.

If you are in the states telesis is the best price (I could find). in Europe might be different.

YO! Thanks to the wise words of DJames and Elmacaco I have just recived my new backlight from Telesis and I must say it was a smooth transaction. Extremely delightful staff and very very helpful. Not only did they send the backlight out right away, the staff pretty much walked me throught the whole process over the phone..WOW thats what I call service. I never soldererd ever. I managed to to pull it off! I went to Walmart and picked up 10 buck soldering kit. It had instructions and I followed loosely a post I found in search that my Elmacaco droped months ago about how to DYI. Hey my fellow MPC60II Rookies its pretty easy just gotta have a steady hand and patience and some skill would make it a bit faster too.

It took me roughly about 2hrs but I am slow and I was going really slow cause I had to practicing soldering before I decided to take it on myself. Well its done now and my Backlight looks healhty and brighter than the sun! I cant believe I did it myself and I cant believe how good it looks. The difference is night and day. 50 bucks will get it done spend and extra 10 to 20 and Telesis can do it for you. I called VST also in California USA and they can to can do it for you, but thier Backlights themselves are a bit more expensive than the Telesis backlight. I dont know why. Well, check them out Telesis is great go with them if you decide to replace a backlight.
