ALL I HAVE IS THE MPC1000 HOOKED UP TO MY CD PLAYER, HOW CAN I GET ENOUGH SIGNAL TO SAMPLE A PART OF A SONG FROM A CD ONTO MPC1000?

Your cd player should be line level so it should work. The only thing is to adjust the rec gain on the MPC.

naw i can have the record gain knob all the way and it still doesn't work. i don't know what i need, ive been told i need some kind of amp or a mixer but no one is ever specific enough so i have been trying to figure this shit out for like a couple of weeks.

just put a cable from headphone out of cd into one of the two right hand holes at back of your mpc. play with selection stereo/monol/monor on the sampling screen,
if still nothing, either:
your mpc is fuc ked - unlikely.
your cable is fuc ked - possible
your cd player is fuc ked - probable
or you need to check yer manual - advisable

if i'm not mistaking, cd players are to be plugged in the digital jack. and if that is the case, then the record gain does not work on digital signals.
