Any info available on putting and internal Zip/HD in the 60?

The info about adding internal zip/flashcard/hd components 2 the MPC 3000 doesnt apply to the Marion Systems Scsi upgrade. It doesnt seem to have the necessary IDC50 standard internal SCSI connector. By the way, does anyone know what type of connector that is attached to the cable with the DB25 (external scsi connector on back) in the 60? If I knew maybe I could get a cable made that incorporates the IDC50. I have a bit of experimenting to do with whats there....but before I go thru the trouble I thought I would ask first.

I'm not sure if I'm understnding you correctly, but if I am,the connector on the back of the 60 is an RS-232C connector. Originally it didn't have any function, but with the 3.10 and Marion Systems SCSI upgrade, it serves as the SCSI connector.

Actually I was talking about the internal connector on the other end of that cable... The one that connects to the board on the 3.10 upgrade. (not the external one in back of the MPC)

Why not? Just make the necessary connection out of what is there. Tha tis what I did on the MPC3000 (same connectors).

Not the same connectors....not at all. If you have ever opened up a MPC 3000 and then a 60 it would be apparent. I was trying to avoid all the clunky connectors that it would take in the 60 to achieve internal SCSI. If worse comes to worse...I have figured out a way to make it all work. I still would like to custom make my cables....its a much better looking solution. Soooo if anyone can help me with that its appreciated.

If you are capable of custom making cables, then I am not sure why you are asking for help.

What exactly are you asking for? How to make an IDC25 to IDC50? DB25 to IDC50? 13 or 25 row ribbon to IDC50? Any type of connection can be made from off-the-shelf parts.

IDC25 was what I was looking for... I wasnt sure thats what was on the 60's SCSI board. Im not really capable of making my own cables as of yet...but... I know how to read...lol. I just needed to know what type of connectors I was working with so I could try and find the appropriate info to make the necessary cables. If it all turns out to be too difficult, I will go the DB25 route and with all the different connectors. Thanx

I'm not either since I am guessing. It would require you opening the machine and describing the connection. I suspect it would be an IDC connector. Not sure how many pins there would be. The issue with making an IDC to IDC cable is just that, you would have to make it since I have not found any off-the-shelf for this particular use. Then you would have to pin-out the cabling, and if any are off then you risk damaging the SCSI system or drives on the MPC. It just was not worth it to me, so I used the existing cabling and added DB25-ID50 to provide internal connectors and to bring it back out externally I added IDC50-DB25 in the place of the original. It's really only two adapters and I reconsider trying to make cables yourself.

It actually turned out to be IDC26. Before I disconected the cable I just thought maybe I would ask and someone would know. I unhooked a IDC50 connector on my Emax a few weeks ago being Mr. Fancy pants.... and broke the top off.... It scared me to death, because the connector on the other end I have never seen before..and dont know if that cable is replaceable. LOL. I did some reasearch and reading...and I doubt if I attempt to make the custom cable. I cant seem to find much info on the process.... I always had the DB25 route as a backup plan...so it looks like thats the way I will be going. At any rate... thanks for attempting to help.... Hopefully this thread will help someone else considering doing the same thing.....
