I guess you're right ntalec, that is pretty dumb. how does the 4k have better pads than the 3k?

Well they werent velocity ssensitive, but maybe the 3000's pads at GC were messed up because their LCDs were cracked.

On the 4000 I can have all my drums and EFX on there, no switching CDs or anything just less of a hassle.

I don't know, the whole pad thing is strange to me anyway.
The Pads on my 2000 O.G. were good
the Pads on my 60mkIIexp (100v Japan version) felt better
the pads on my 2000xl studio feel like the 60mkII did
the pads on my 60mkI (120v US version) feels better than the xl
could be me since I really like banging thos plastic SP buttons
The pads on the 3000 and 4000 seem ok to me it that 1000 and PD that I don't like.

I though I was crazy when I felt a difference between the replacement pads I bought and the original 60mk I pads, but it's there, must be something in the formulation of the rubber, because the really do feel different. More than just wear because I've banged on other hardly used MK I's are it's subtle but it is different.

replacing the pads made a world of difference. my old ones were pretty hard and unresponsive. the new pads are softer and i dont have to bang on it as hard as i needed to. thought i was buggin but even my friends were saying how soft they are. rubber hardens over time, so im guessing it depends on how theyre taken care of?

Yeah when they get worn they lose some bounce.

i kinda like that my mpc60 mk1 pads are a little harder than my 2kxl... 2kxl ones were a little too soft... felt like my finger was gonna go thru them..
