MPC EDITOR PROBLEMS

Well guess what........I copied the folders to a Zip and the programs loaded.............
So what does that mean? Bad CD's? MPC editor programs can't be burnt to CD's?or what? What brand of CD's are you guys using that are having success burning programs to CD and loading them in your MPC? Let me know before I go out and buy more coasters, lol

on some real Sh*t, I appreciate all the help from everyone. But still would like to burn these to CD.

I would dump that combo drive and get or try a different burner.
I have used Maxell, Sony, Imation, PNY, Optimum, the Staples brand and even Kodak CDR's with no problem.
Doubt if it's the brand of CDR.

well I just got the combo drive about 2 weeks ago and I got it to replace my old SCSI CD rom drive that I had since about 95 which was before they even made CDR's and it was not working at all. My CDRom has been working perfect. I have burned waves directly from my pc and loaded them directly into the MPC using that drive with no problems. and I have an extensive collection of CD's with sounds and waves that load perfectly........it's just when I am trying to do this thing with the MPC editor that I run into this problem. Who knows all this computer stuff has a mind of it's own.....

It may be these CD's though.... They are bulk no name CD's with no writing. The kind that you can't tell one side from the other.

Well, I make it a habit not to connect burners to samplers have seen to many inconsistent things happen.
Just like I have seen problem burning on an IDE on the computer and reading from a SCSI on the sampler.
The most classic still will be the ASR-10.
You can save a BANK on a ZIP drive with SCSI-ID5, then if you try to load it from a ZIP drive with SCSI-ID6 it will go thru the load process and say complete but never loads any samples or gives an error message.

Try wasting one more CDR.
Take a blank ZIP disk and fill it up with the new .pgm's, then copy that to a CDR and see it that works.

Actually the CD rom drive I have hooked to the MPC is not a burner and the first CDrom drive that I purchased in 95 was actually for my ASR-10 acutally it I just hooked it back to my ASR-10 and it works great with that. I have an internal Zip on my MPC but I will try your suggesttion of copying from the Zip to the CD and seeing if that works, after I go purchase some more CDR's.

I see your location says 804 is that the 804 area code in VA? if so then we are in the same area and you are a night owl like my self or you have a job that you go to very early in the morning where you just surf the web, lol (nothing wrong with that by the way). I see you own a few classics like the SP1200 and the MPC60. I own a vintage SP12 in ment condition that I keep wrapped in plastic. I have the old commadore disc drive to go with it and all types of sounds on the big ole squre disc that are literally FLOPPY! lol...Damn I actually have a few boxes of those old disc still in the Box never even been opened.

Yeah, i have only had one problem with MPC Editor, and thats when im loading in a program, and in the middle of loading the program, it tells me that it cant load a certain type of file, but when i try to put the CD back in my Computer, MPC Editor is able to open it under the MPC2000XL format and i save it again, and it gives me the same problem, so maybe MPC Editor does have its lil glitches

OK, Im pulling my hair out here. Is anyone having success with using Recycle, and MPC editor and then burning the program to a CD and opening it in your mpc? The only thing I can think of is maybe I got a bad copy of MPC editor from MPC3000. So I am going to redownload it and try it again.

There could be any number of issues with this scenario:
Multi-session issues.
Mode Type 1/2 issues.
ISO format issues.
There may even be a bug with the MPC not correctly reading filenames off the CDFS.

I would tend to think it is the last one since it works when not using CD's.


I have only used CD's a few times myself. I usually just transfer stuff by removable drive to the MPC and then save to the MPC's hard drive (which has been MPC formatted). This allows be to work with large libraries.
