Need Help Sync'ing Cubase SX to my MPC 4000

my set up goes like this...

1: my triton keyboard is hooked up thru midi to my mpc 4000 midi
in/out

2: my mpc 4000 is hooked up to my M audio Delta Card thru midi on my
sound card, now i need to sync cubase sx and the mpc 4000 together.

im having trouble hearing the midi out when im creating a new project
it says Not assigned , on the midi in i have my m audio delta card
specified, now i have an option to slave that directly to my triton
korg keyboard, it gives me an auto recognize selection for that to
become an out but i dont wanna do that i wanna be able to sync my
triton keyboard to my mpc then from my mpc to my computer via cubase
sx. my main problem is i cannot hear any audio out of my MIDI OUT on
my midi track project im trying 2 create..so if any of u fellas can
get back 2 me id appreciate that cuz this is one big headache im
having fun with.

(p.s. i know i can use aks.sys to drag files on my computer- transfer
my sequences/samples to my p.c. but i just cant hear any audio out of
cubase sx thru MIDI OUT)

ok, I guess you're sequencing your triton in cubase... try this.
your cubase's midi info may be recognized by the MPC right ?
pick a track, let's say track #9, change the type to -> "Inst", and then assign your "out1" to where the triton is hooked (on your MPC, Midi A, B, C, or D whatever)
it may work that way, but be sure first, that your cubase's midi messages go through your MPC.

I pilot my Dx21, with my masterkeyboard this way, and it works fine, take the midi in, and assign the track to your midi out, it works like a "thru" function, but with the bonus to be able to record midi data in your MPC.

wait...are you trying to use cubase as your main sequencer or just your audio tracker? if so you don't even need to record midi to cubase or even deal with that...all you need is for cubase to trigger your mpc and be the clock. the mpc will do the rest (assuming you only have mpc to triton and you're using the mpc as your sequencer). to do this just set your midi out from computer to your midi in on mpc, select this midi connection in cubase, then turn "sync" on on the 4000 hit window, turn mode to midi clock, sync in: midi I or II (whichever cubase is into)

Ok I'm using Cubase's clock as main clock for sync, but I do all the midi in the MPC, but I can do it in cubase if I want.

Cubase is my DtD Soft
All The midi info is in the MPC except the clock
I can use the MPC as "midi thru-like" for every midi source, incl. Cubase.

With that config, you can do whatever you need

so you're saying you have your mpc as your main sequencer, but cubase can also record all your midi data coming off of the mpc onto their seperate tracks? without any rewiring?

right now I have:

triton midi out to mpc midi in I
pc midi out to mpc midi in II
mpc midi out A to triton midi in
mpc midi out B to pc midi in

I use cubase just as a clock when recording. Otherwise everything is done on mpc up to that point. I don't know how to get the midi data to record into cubase, though..that would be tight to have both forms of editing ...what do i need to change in mysetup, or do on the 4000 or cubase (sx) to do accomplish this?

no changing of setup it's fine
just create your midi track into cubase, assign the in to the soundcard's in where the mpc is hooked, then in the "main" windows
you can assign 2 outputs
assign the second one to your midi out B, it should work fine

ok, I got that so far, I have an issue where cubase records everything ....like midi channel can be set to 3 on cubase and 1 on the mpc out b and it still receives that midi note from #1 on the mpc...how do I stop that/

make sure the track you want to record on is highlighted?

thanks, but that's not the issue, or at least it shouldn't be... I should be able to highlight every track BUT the track I want to record on and as long as it's set to the right input and armed it will record and the others won't

Perhaps, but in cubase 5 the highlighted track is the one that will respond to midi information sent to cubase.

nah that's not how sx is, I think you might be able to set it up to switch arming upon highlight maybe, but mine isn't setup that way

Hopefully I understood your problem correctly, Go to your multi page and set up your midi outs there. Then try recording to cubase...

ok, i just checked that...it's setup default: part 1 midi 1a part 2 midi 2a etc

my problem is I can transmit part1 to channel 1...but it also transmits to every other channel as well same with the other parts/channels
