MPC 4000 Question

I don't know if this is possible but I think I saw someone do it.

Can you make it so that if you hold down a pad the sample will play the beginning part of the sample over and over again until you release the pad. It wont play all the way through but will play only the beginning portion over.

For example if you held down a pad with a snare sample, the sound would be the attack of the snare playing over repeatedly.

Yes it is, simply fix the end of the loop where you want.

but if you do it that way, then when you want to release the pad and let the sample play the whole way through, it wont, right?

I never tried.. maybe not, I don't know

why don't you just set it to mono, and hit the pad repeatedly at the point you want it to loop at, then when you let go it will play the whole sample?
