Where do you get your sound effects

I been doin some songs and lookin around for crispy sound effects like quotes from movies, background sounds for skits, and of course gun shots.
and it seems to me the best way to get a sound is to take your studio mic outside and make em yourself

How do some of you go about getting your sounds

dvds' take your audio leads from the player straight into your sampler and record- dead easy

sound effects from library sound effect cds may help- but they will be ultraclean...

for cool quotes use dvds- better res than videos or mp3s....

but if you live in that kinda neighbourhood and want gunshots go outside and record them- i personally think you should go out with your mic anyway and just record your area- y'know traffic noise, conversations, go out for a couple of hours with a dictaphone and leave it running whilst wlaking around- you then have a couple of hours of samples ready to use as backdrops to your tunes- that way they'll also be original and personal-

a few artists i like do this but not many hiphop heads i know of and think it could work really well...

I know there was a website where it had all the most popular quotes from movies, tv shows, etc. But I lost it, it was bookmarked on my old computer.

Nerds that dont have anything to do with making music or beats............still love to record them and post em on the internet.

Just do a search on google for movie quotes, or audio clips of moives, etc. Get creative with your search.......

Yeah I know they have alot of sites, most full of viruses and crap, others are fulla useless or bullshyt quality sounds.

I have a home studio, so going out back and squeezin off ah few rounds wit the M11 isnt a good idea (ppl might shoot back)

I guess your best bet is to record from dvd or video....................I personally dont do this much. I mean, i watch movies and am like "wow, i should sample this" but i dont ever do it.

Id probably recomend getting it setup so you can do it easily. I dont do it because i dont plan far enough to do it, i just end up going straight to my vinyl collection. I dont know, it just seems to take more effort sampling from movies.

download books on tape using bittorrent. you can find the most poignant shit you need, vocal wise. not really for sound effects though, like gunshots--as if they really needed to be added into any more rap songs. but audio books are pretty **** cool.

public library............get the books on tape or cd..........also some good ones have massive vinyl selections......and some of them are tutorials, or books on vinyl, shit like that......not just music.

I think you should only put gunshots on your records if you actually live in a neigbourhood where you could go outside with a mic on any given night and have a good chance of being able to record some gunshots.
