Please Help!!! mpc2000

I need help, I have two 16mb sticks of memory that are for my mpc2000. I installed one and checked the memory and it said 18mb. So I then removed the cover and installed the second stick. Now when I got to check the memory it says 2mb again. I tried removing them, and installing again one at a time, and now I cant even get it to read 18mb again. Also when I install it some times it says 0mb. Can some one please help before I throw my MPC2000 against the wall?

1st question. Did you get the correct memory sticks required for the MPC 2000?? the 72 pin nano ram???

2nd question. Did you make sure you placed the teeth of the memory firmly into the MPC mother board? Sometime the opposite end might not be firmly fitted due to the angle you have to position the memory chips to get them to fit.


Double check both of these and let us know.

yeah, I checked and both ends where snapped into place, when I went and checked the memory again it said 0mb.... I am 100% sure that when I put the first stick in the first time and checked, it showed 18mb. could it be static electricisty or something?

Very possible. If you had any static on you and you touched the teeth of the memory that's all it would need to fry it. And the MPC would not be able to read it at all, or vice versa, lets say you had static and touched the MPC's mother board. But your MPC is firing up so it's on the memory chip part.

Did you try to sample anything? Try to simple something like 40 secs just to see if it's not a glitch on the MPC channel line of the board where it's showing up as 0MB. I thought I heard from someone they had max out their memory and the MPC said 0mb, but they had full sampling time..
Try that and see where you get.

If not then try to get a refund, or copp some new memory off Ebay for $20 beans.
