Need Help with 4000LE

I got a 4000LE the other day. The akaipro.com website doesn't have a list of compatible drives. What Hard Drives can you put in there and how big can you go. What CDR drives can you put in it also , even though Im going to wait on that until they use it to its fullest. If anyone has a list or knows where I can find it please let me know. You are lucky, man. I paid $3,000 for my for mpc4k, when first released. There was no option to buy a strip down LE. I would had brought the LE, if it was available at the time.

The beauti of the mpc4k, is you don't need a hard drive or a cd burner. If you connect the mpc4k to your pc with a usb cable. Install the mpc4k usb driver, so your pc recongize your mpc4k. Then install aksys software and use the software to back up the data on your mpc4k to a folder on your pc after you done with your work. This data can be burn to a cdr or cdrw, with the cd burner on your pc, when you're ready. The mpc4k uses the same data format that the pc recongize and the mpc4k cd burner act the same as a pc cd burner. No difference.

When you boot the mpc4k. Drag and drop the data from the folder on your pc to the aksys software and the data will be transfered from the pc to the mpc4k, thru the usb connection. Now you can begin where you left off.

Now that you ahead of the game with a cheaper mpc4k. Save your money and let the mpc4k features work for you.

The MPC4000 is generally pretty good with HDD's, I currently have a 12Gb Quantum Fireball drive in there running at 7,200 rpm ATA100.

It takes 100 - 133Mhz SD-Ram, but not DDR. It can take a maximun of 512Mb (256Mb x 2)

It's very fussy about CD-R drives, I personaly wouldn't bother, the CD-R feature is not that usful with the current OS anyway.

i am interested in the le model , does it come with all the filters everything except the adat , analog and digital outs. i know u can buy them , what else is it missing besides those and the cd drive burner and hard drive . jaydolla how much did u pay. i have read u cann get a hard drive and burner cheap afterwards. i find the option of building up a 4000 is a great thing akai did. since i cannot come up with the 2 plus gs , but it would be good to get a brand new le for a good price . hit me back

I'm using a DVDrom drive -> works fine

all the filters are in when u buy it.

Can it read DVDs Yammada?

the only problem with having a 4k w/out the hard drive or cd-rom is that it becomes a stationary device. If you go somewhere where they don't have a mpc4k, you're going to need to bring your CDs and drivers and pray they let you install ak.sys on their pc rig so that you can work...otherwise you have to start from scratch..wait you can't start from scratch because you can't even get sounds on the thing unless you have a zip drive..and damn..why not just buy a hard drive instead of a zip drive? They're cheap. So are CDroms...I bought my 4k for 2300 has the 60GB and a CD-R etc Now a cheaper LE I would buy...but only to save money and add a hard drive and cd-rom....not to keep stripped down and suffer

No I don't think it can read DVD's but it can read all the regular CD's
