It's all most time.

It's getting closer to the release date of the MPC 1000. I was wondering if anyone had any new thoughts or information on this equipment. I hear it is going to sell around 850 bones. Thats pretty tempting to me. Now I won't have to drop 1400. Lets discuss.

I have one of them on order. The MPC1000 has improvements over the MPC2000XL You should download and read the manual while you are waiting for AKAI to release the hardware. The price makes the unit very appealing. AKAI is going to sell a lot of them.

i havent got any experience with the other mpc's, but this sure looks nice! Do you think it's going to cost alot more i europe??

"I just read the MPC1000 manual and noted these things:
1. Midi inputs are merged (like MPC3000). MPC2000XL treats them as 2 separate inputs
2. Internal 5Mb flash memory is re-writable.
3. Additional Q-link (NV) and 16-level function: LAYERS, VELOCITY.
Seems you can put 4 samples on a single pad (layering) and can switch between them using 16-levels, velocity or Q-link. Each sample has it's own level and tune settings.
4. I did not see Autochromatic Assign or Slice from the XL (no Zone section).
5. Can save ALL/APS combination as Project (like MPC4000).
6. Linear and Logarithmic display in sample edit screen.
7. Normalize (finally!).
8. 2 filters in series. HP, LP and BP. Can be linked. Each one is 2-pole. Linking would make a single 4-pole filter.
9. 2 effects blocks shared. Output is only to the main outs. Can be put in serial (FX1->FX2) or parallel (FX1->main, FX2->main).
10. Compressor and EQ effects avaialable on the mains in addition to the above.
11. Midi clock is the only sync method (no MTC or SMPTE).
12. No transpose feature like the other models.
13. No 2nd sequence.
14. Punch in/out cannot be pre-set to specific locations. Done in real-time.
15. Fewer sound editing functions: no timestretch, no reverse, no silence (likely a non-issue if connected to computer).
16. No Beat Loop function.
17. Filter section has added attentuation parameter.
18. Did not see Velocity->Pitch found on the MPC2000(XL).

And the rest of the obvious stuff: CF media storage, USB, no SCSI, no
batteries."
