...n still HAVE not had the chance to use it...haven't even opened it out the box yet...




any input or tips on how to start this? aka makin "beats"....

Just dive in! Make no excuses for yourself and plunge right in, you're not going to learn it without using it.

The key to learning and having fun is to not expect anything right off, just experiment and keep it all exploratory. I find when I sit down and say "I'm going to make a hit" I end up making garbage, if I sit down and just experiment the result is usually much better.

sell it!!!! if you haven’t taken it out of the box before you even got out of the store, then making beat is not for you doggie. go buy that new B2K CD with that money fukcer your basura to me hoe. fool like this make me mad. i see little project kids with them stretched out dirty tees with Kool-Aid stains on them going to guitar center and messing with the akai for hours showing hella hart trying to make a beat and your ass is sitting on the MPC like a big ol turkey. shame on you.

Maybe the guy works too many hours/ jobs (so he can afford something like an MPC1000) and so he never has the time to have FUN. Calm down dude.

Bit like moi at the moment :( But i can see the point, if you cant even be bothered to open the darn box and plug it in then what hope is there really :? If after couple weeks you dont like it, whatever sell it but this situ looks a f*ckin joke :lol:

you tellin me main...its all a huslte.. all this work n hustle to get gear like the mpc n then i can't even use it cuz so mad busy... but trust jus a little bit more then i can dig in.. if yall recall i'm that same dude yall dissed n clowned cuz my studio setup was too "ghetto" then i hustled up n copped that new crazy studio for dirt cheap..but as you guessed aint' even touched it yet... now jus as i'm set my car tire get slashed n the next day somebody tried jackin my stereo n smashed up my windows to get in...like that nia az sed life's a b*tcch... but saga carry on... but yo soon BOUT to get that grind on...

i just use an mpc, thousands of mp3s, instrument pgms, some vinyl and reason.

But gotz to admit Madlib does own a bunch of gear himself (mpc4000, sp1200. sp303, at one time a mpc2000xl, Asr-10, alot of multitracks). Just to name a few things he has
