You have to sync the two via midi.As far as the settings it's all in the manual but if you don't have it here's some help to get you in the right direction. In the lower left where it says drum change to midi and use each correlating track with whatever rack channel you are usin'.

For instance piano is on midi track one then when you record in.Switch tracks and go to your next instrument.

ROTFLMAO!!!

You're right, jaem is not serious. It's his (very funny) way of saying you can find the answer to your question by spending 2 minutes with the manual. It's basic MIDI. Very basic MIDI. Like MIDI lesson 1.

No it's not sync, unless you want to use the built-in sequencer of the keyboard alongside the sequencer of the MPC. It's basic sending and receiving of midi notes. Don't go into the sync page.

1
Make sure you have a cable from the midi out of the keyboard to the midi in (A or B) of the MPC, and another one from the out (A or B) of the MPC to the in of the keyboard.

2
Also make sure the keyboard is set to "local off" or you're in all sorts of other trouble.

3
Go to the main window, bottom left where it says "DRUM1" and change this to "MIDI" (just in case you did something funny before, hit 'open window' on this field and make sure "receive channel" is "ALL")

4
Go to the field to the right of that where it says "OFF" and change this to 1A or 1B, depending on which midi output you connected your keyboard to. (just in case you did something funny before, hit 'open window' on this field and make sure "SOFT THRU" is not set to "OFF" or "OMNI" for the input your keyboard's not connected to... set it to "AS TRACK" just in case.)

5
Make sure an instrument/program/tone/whateverit'scalledonyourmachine is active on midi channel 1 of your keyboard.

6
Put the MPC into record

7
play some notes

8
wait for the loop to return to where you played the notes

9
smile

You shouldn't say that here; I almost regret helping you now. Download the manual from the Akai site and do your homework.

if you learned all the ish about the MPC in 2 days, how come you didn't teach yourself midi.........

Rule 1: NEWBIES SHOULD NOT COME INTO ANY GROUP WITH A POMPOUS ATTITUDE!

2 days huh? Don't write checks that your pads can't cash big man.

You got fire in your personality, that's good right there.
