hooking my zip to my mpc 60II

I just got a mpc 60II with the os and scsi upgrade but im having a hard time connecting my zip100 to my mpc. it doesnt seem to read it and when i format a disc it reconizes the disk for a second and then failes becouse it says no scsi devise found.

if anybody has any idea i would love to know!

You formatting using MPC editor or the MPC?

i gues i dont know what you mean. i format in the disk utilitys in the mpc

Make sure your drive is terminated and you have a scsi ID set at the back. If your zip doesn't have a scsi ID switch or a Termination switch it isn;t a scsi drive.

Always power on the zip before the 60, then maybe try a new disk.

i'm still dealing with this issue on my MK1. been saving to floppies from the get. my 60 doesn't even recognize the SCSI device hooked to it. no go.

being that i've read alot of people with the same complaint, i'm beginning to think it's not just a faulty zip drive/scsi cable....

P. Noob, your Mk1 may not have SCSI, those MPCs came standard with a connector on the back that looks identical to a SCSI connector called a rs232c or some thing like that. If you have'nt already open it and see if you have a "Marion SCSI" board installed. As far as jrk, it sounds like you have the right type of zip and SCSI if your disk is formatting. Now when you hit "disk" There should be an option 9, this is where you select your disk (zip partition or floppy) you can also do this from the "load" screen (option 7) it is soft key 4. Anyway just try that and try saving to the zip. Now when you formatted your zip did it ask you how you wanted it partitioned? If not you never really formatted a zip disk.

so i dont have an option nine or a option 4 after option 7 in disk but my the mpc did ask me if i wanted to partition me disk befor it tried and failed to work. it seems like it half way connects and then gives up.

check the ribbons inside, you m,ight have blown the scsi board if you have it.

redgreenz personally assured me that he installed the Marion SCSI board. i have no reason to doubt him. my guess is that it's either a faulty zip drive and/or scsi cable.

but i've been through the manual a million times on this issue without any resolution as of yet.

and according to the Roger Linn faq on how to check if your 60 has the upgrade, mine does.
