No computer - 1000 or 2000xl?

Really, any mpc is a great piece of gear and doesn't necessarily need a computer to take advantage of the unit.IMO.

The mp,good mixer,and dat/external recorder is all you need.I think it just comes down to preference and budget.

i've used both but i'm not going to give you my opinion on which one you should get. the only thing the computer is used for with the 1000's USB is for file transfer, that's all nothing else.

my suggestion to you is to find a sam ash or guitar center or your local music supply store and mess around with the floor models.
