Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I need to copy all my songs and APS. program from my jaz drive to a computer for backup reasons, but the last time i did it corrupted my files. i dont know if this was cause at the time it was Win 98..Maybe Win XP has a different affect. My mpc files are not in the standard character forum required to not allow corruption.. Has anyone done this with success?

I'm trying to figure out what you are doing, I think maybe you saved them on the computer and your hd is not fat16.

All your filenames need to be 8 characters or less and you can save them to your XP on NTFS and/or FAT32 hd and they will be just fine, I use this method ALL the time (I have a CF reader in my 2kxl, used to have an internal atapi 250 zip in MPC and PC and I did the same thing and I still save the same way and I'm fine).

Thats the thing. Alot of my characters for songs arnet 8 characters or less and it will be a pain in the ass to rename... First off are talking about the ALL./APS name that needs to be 8 characters or less. What about the sounds within the program? If i use a NTFS file syatem does this even make a difference.. YEs i do believe the last time it was a fat 32 system.

I ALWAYS used 8 or less that's why I had no problems saving onto my NTFS / FAT23 partitions on PC. This advice is ALL over the forums here.
Your filenames will have to be renamed. No easy way around it.
If you DON'T rename them then you'll have to save to a fat16 formatted JAZZ. You should be fine if you do that.

Is your JAZZ scsi connected to the MPC?
How are you going to get your files from the MPC to PC/JAZZ?

Yeah its connected to my mpc, but i was just planning on disconnecting it and hooking up to my laptop and saving the files that way..SO i only have to rename the name of the aps/all file...NOt the sounds itself? or everything

Rename the sounds to 8 or less. APS and ALL can be the SAME
name for easy cataloging.
