how do yall go about making baselines

yo im just wondering how u lot buss out a bassline using jus the mpc. i wanna make a melody as well any suggestions?

hey, they got this freeware thingy called the NCH Tone Generator...I use it to make sine wv's then I import em into the MPC and use the 16 levels to make a good bassline.....Just run a search on Google and you'll find it...

Also in cool edit pro/sound forge you can generate sinewaves and other types of and twist them around until your hearts content. I use the clean sinewaves that I generate in sound forge alot because they are free of any background instrument noise that normal sampling sometimes yields and are literally perfect to me.

any tips for that?...like what frequencies are Ideal for making a good tone....I feel like i'm just doing mostly guesswork when using the generator thingy, yow mean?

sine frequency.....50.00 hz
relative amplitude.....-11db to give it that muffled sound.....

I have beringer reference CD that I go by sometimes. It depends on what type of bass you are looking for. Most of the time I will go for between 5-60khz and of course you can tune it to whatever you want. I don't have just 1-2 favorite freq's.. I generate many different tones at different tunes to try and get it close to what I want and then export to wav and load to MPC. I also mix and merge sines as well to see what I come up with. It's pretty much experimentation and playin it back to my ear.

but as it pitches the notes, I use long sounds with "note off" as overlap mode. otherwise, you end with very short and very long sounds! But if there aren't too many notes (2-4), I don't use the 16 levels, but assign the same sound (or different sounds, witch is even better) to different pads and pitch them in the program parameters.

16 notes does it for me if I'm not using a module. I've actually used samples with a bass note and kick in the same sample that has worked well.

I played Bass guitar before I started making beats, so I'll usually sample the guitar into the MPC. You can pretty much come up with anything that way. Bought my first one used for $100 so they are affordable.

How do you change the bass tone on the 16 levels......Like as the pad goes up...the higher the bass sounds....Can anybody help.

...afraid you might have to reference the manual on that one...its in there and its pretty easy to do. Peace...
