yea the whole point of having the usb interface on the oxygen 8 is to transmit midi through a usb port.

:? Yeah but what I was meaning was if I was to use a seperate usb midi interface and choose this in Reason, would Reason be able to accept midi data from Oxygen and MPC at the same time? I'm not planning on using the built in usb interface with the Oxygen.

Cheers

if you are planning to use the 2in2out interface with the mpc and reason you have to use the usb interface on the oxygen 8. that is exactly what i use. reason 3.0, mpc1k and the oxygen 8

I use a Motu Fastlane (2in 2out midi port) with an Oxygen 8, MPC 1k and Reason 3 and it works perfectly on my G4 powerbook.

Just hook up the oxygen midi out to the midi input of the MPC. Then send one of the MPC's midi out's to the Input of the computer's midi interface.

Set up the midi thingy on the top of reason to have whatever modules you want playing through channel 1-16. On the mpc select midi channel 1-16 (A or B depending on which you hooked up to the computer's midi interface) and you can sequence all of it with the MPC using the keyboard or pads.

Also, if you haven't yet, check out Ableton Live. It is one of the best pieces of audio software available on PC or MAC and expands the capabilities of an MPC and Reason (or what you can do with your music altogether) vastly.

yes..reason has keyboard options and is compatable with alot of midi controllers, go to preferences it might even have Oxygen 8 in there.

yes it does. keep in mind, the oxygen 8 works well with every version of reason. and in reason 3.0 like pen said, go to the preference tab and audio controllers, the oxygen 8 (older/newer) is listed there.

The oxygen 8 has no midi input. If you wish to sequence reason with the mpc1000 you must have a seperate midi interface to the computer (1in1out, 2in2out, whatever). Also, Reason's sequencer will not work with external gear, so sequencing with the MPC is the way to go to get the best of all worlds.

Using the Oxygen 8 as a standalone keyboard/interface through usb limits you to working with softsynths and such due to it's midi limitations. It is highly suggested to use it as a midi controller using it's standard midi out port. Sadly, you've gotta use the wall wart to make it function correctly as a normal midi controller.

*Samuraisam, I think you misinterpereted what Sparq said. He was talking about the USB connection on the oxygen8, which can transmit midi data. This is because in USB mode it acts as a midi controller and interface at once.

The MPC's USB is pretty much good for nothing so far.
