Hi fellas,
For those of you not on the Yahoo-list: J.P. Edmund was kind enough to take a trip to AES to talk to Akai and take a few pictures. It seems David Whittle pretty much killed that "3rd party developer" rumour...
Actually, I think I like the colour-scheme of my 4k just the way it is...
Cheers,
Arne S.

Well I went and didn't have to beat anyone up. I met Dave Whittle.
Dave is a really cool cat, and y'all need to stop beating up on him
up in here. He really is on your side.
He showed me the beta of the next release, and most of the issues
that I remembered to ask about were solved. I saw the 16 levels and a
new pad mixer in action, as well as some q-link stuff. (I don't use
the q-link stuff yet, so I wasn't really paying attention). No
audition, yet. I didn't ask when, based on what I was told, I'll
wait. There is no third party developers working on the new OS
version.
I was fully satisfied in my conversation that all of your complaints
haven't been falling on deaf ears, just don't scream so loud.
The 1000 looks and feels like a solid machine, has some weight to it.
The 4000s are going to be blue as with the new motif of the Akai line.
I saw thata new Roland box, they are straight pimping it like a MPC
killa. It's a nice machine, but just cuz it gotz pads, it don't make
it a playa.
I put some pics at http://brooklynbassmint.com/aes/aes.html
Dave, it was a pleasure meeting you.
Actually, I think I like the colour-scheme of my 4k just the way it is...
Cheers,
Arne S.

You're right! I didn't see his right side, just the blue MPD16 on his left!
