just jumped in it now, guess i'd better read the 10 pages. sorry fellas
on that 'they gotta eat note'. that was way out.
If I would try to get this to a closer comparison it would have to be like pete rock stopped using samplers and now rocks only synths, since he gotta eat...
I know there is no excuse for wack music. Its just some people acting if PR is wack now or something just cuz he rocks the 2kxl now. I was just pointing out that some cats are really stuck in this "it just doesnt sound like it used to do stuff". I mean, we've all heard it 100 times and its true to some point.
But do we want to sound like a bunch of rusty granpas, telling everyone shit was so good back then and now everything sucks? Just had to express that real fast, not to be mistaken. Sorry if this discussion was already called out.. didnt mean to bring back old ghosts..
El, there must have been a double-tripple misunderstanding there hehe
This guy here said it was not possible with the EMAX , so i just brought the evidence. No means to disturb your sp convo
No offense y'all - its all good

Thats what i meant! quoting myself " I was just getting at dude who tried to check out lower sample rates on the EMAX, saying it couldnt do that."
wasnt it you who said getting 26 seconds on an emax is impossible? Maybe i got you wrong aswell
Wheres that PR BEATTAPE THOUGH?

Yeah I don;t think anyone said it wasn't possible with the emax, I think we were conversing so fast that we were switching from the emax to the SP real quick and you missed it.
Anyhow, glad you joined in, now where is that pete Rock beat tape?!!

How about saying how and why you disagree with him instead of referencing old Burger King Comercials?
I actually want to know what you're thoughts are.
Thanks Illvibe, I'll try that.

C.Toon-
Robbing a bank cause you got to eat, or watering down your sound to appeal to a broader audience to eat, is all in the same bag as far as I'm concerned. Of course my analogies are exteme, but that doesn't change anything. How do I figure? Because both actions require one similar component; You compromise your integritty, plain and simple.
Thats what this thread has been about from jump. Pete compromised his sound. Thiers no denying that. If you think otherwise, you can get the Richard. Just about evey post going against what myself, (and others..) have said, is always a tic-for-tac type rebuttle you know? Like ya'll will say, "Ya'll are some 12-bit d*ck riders", or, "You need to get with the future and quit living in the past", but then your follow up will be, "I'm not denying Pete has a legendary discography", or, "Nothing he's doing now is more classic then his old material, but he's not falling off, just changing with the times".
You, and thousands of others still refer to the early 90's sound as the "Golden era". How come? Cause it was the pinacle of Hip-Hop culture. Thats why..

yeah C.Toon, Ntalec was talking about the capability of the secret extra sample time of the SP-1200. That's why he's saying if the emax did have the technique you could get 27 seconds at 28k sampling rate, which normally gives you 18 seconds, and I didn't have to look at the manual to tell you that

Yeah, your still confused.
On the SP I can get 15-sec instead of 10-sec.
If I could do the same on the Emax I could get 27-sec instead of 18-sec AT 28K

Didn't I mention in my very first post that people take things to literary and then mistake you for some stereotype opinion?
I'm far away from saying shit like "Ya'll are some 12-bit d*ck riders" (I do own an emax myself...).
So please dont mistake me for opinions of other ppl on this board.
In the first place I said people should get off the hate-trip and still I made sure ppl understand that I'm no pimpleface-nuschool-triton-kid. I just try to find a way to accept hiphop as one thing, and even if i dont love the music that comes out nowadays as much as i loved the music when these classics came out back then, there is no reason to hate on people that PRODUCE MUSIC FOR YOU. Either you dig it or you dont.
So, for now we could stop the useless argueing and continue on the sp topic?
I guess I'll always be misunderstood.
Same shit, different bowl
p.s.:guess I got ya wrong then on the emax thing, ntalec. my bad

Hey Pass,
Sound like you got it figured out. Get your manager to land some tracks on some indie Lp and MAYBE even a major label LP. Then you can show Pete how it's done:D
current". So,your manger tells you to change you sound and you breakdown and cop a 4000 and a Protools Setup just to function in the Music industries marketplace, then it will smack you in the head " the Music industry is all about money PERIOD !!" And Pete Probably want's to Compete with the Just blaze's,Alchemist's and 9th wonder's of the world (BTW, Pete uses the MPC 4000 now from what I've heard!) My point is homey don't let the foolishess and Idealism hold you back, if you have the Talent to get paid then don't get over emotional about a PIECE OF GEAR!! IT WON'T LOVE YOU BACK!
