I'd have to say that this is 100% true.
I'd also have to say that for back in the day, Dre was an aight producer, but dude was already 25 when that "Straight outta..." sh!t dropped. My man is like 42 now. Anyone thats been making beats for 20 years and was a grown-@ss man when he started should be SO ill by now that there would be no argument if he was overrated or the best or whatever. Besides the fact that he don't write his own rhymes (not that havin a ghostwriter does anything to your producer cred, it just makes me wonder how much of the actual composition and beatmaking he does). There's a HELLA big difference from producing a track and Executive Producing an album. He may know how to chop, and re-arrange and all that, but what good is talent if your final product sounds not only HEAVILY recycled from beat to beat, but also doesn't (sorry to all who disagree) move anyone outside of the thug community.
I mean, when Dre 2001 dropped, I thought cats was clowing about how amped up they were about it. I was all "that dude fell off so long ago, there's NO WAY anyone's gonna buy his sh!t, they only bought his last album because of Snoop". And low and behold, Dre 2001 sold like a mofo, but only because of this "new whiteboy" that could "actually rap". Which is funny, because I'd say that about half of my favorite emcees are white, or at least would be considered white by the industry. But I digress, yet again.
Dre is so completely overrated. Its like dude said:

And if anyone tried to say LL Cool J was one of the best Emcees in the biz today, we'd all (well maybe not all of us, but a bunch) would laugh straight at you. Just 'cause their style was tight back in the day (which they weren't, we just had MUCH MUCH lower standards for hip hop then) don't mean that they are still on the top.
Oh, and Cyrus, not to put you out like this, but The Beatles were one of the most complex, innovative and experimental musicians the worlds has EVER known (not even Pink Floyd tops 'em), it's just that the sh!t that gets radio play sucked. Which brings me to my favorite point. Everyone keeps talking about how much money someone makes being somehow relative to how much talent they have. DJDrew asked:

And I'M VERY proud to say that I cant think of a single top charting musician of anykind that I like. 99% of music on the radio or MTV is straight GARBAGE. That includes, but isn't limited to: 50 Cent, Kanye West, the Game, Canibus, Luda and the rest of the "MTV's Cribs" "hip-Hop" scene.
