rappers/singers sometimes mention the title of the song that they sample in their song? I've noticed this in many songs and I was wondering if this has anything to do with copyright laws?

They might do it as part of an advertisement deal agreement with the originator as well.

It might just be that they are proud of twisting and tweaking that particular sample.

You could be right also.
